A former Manitoba Member of Parliament is facing a dozen weapons-related charges after RCMP seized hundreds of firearms from his Dauphin-area home.
Police say 78-year-old Inky Mark was arrested following a July 7 search of the property, where officers seized 439 firearms, an antique cannon, ammunition and more than $300,000 in cash.
RCMP allege at least three of the firearms had been illegally trafficked, one had a tampered serial number, and hundreds were improperly stored.
Mark has been charged with firearms trafficking, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, three counts of unsafe firearms storage, two counts of careless use of a firearm and two counts of possessing a prohibited device.
Investigators say documenting the large collection could take several weeks, and additional charges remain possible.
