The Manitoba RCMP has launched a new community notification system in Thompson and several other detachments.

 

The pilot project uses Rave Mobile Safety, a voluntary platform that lets local RCMP send targeted alerts directly to residents by text, email, or automated phone call.

 

The system is meant for important public safety information, including missing person updates, requests for public assistance, road condition alerts, crime prevention messaging, and other urgent need-to-know notices.

 

RCMP says it is meant to add to existing communication tools, including local detachment social media pages, not replace Alert Ready or emergency services.

 

The pilot project is expected to run for about three months while Manitoba RCMP gathers feedback and evaluates the program.
