A recent Hantavirus exposure connected to a cruise ship has raised questions for Canadians — especially after the experience of COVID-19.
But a Manitoba researcher says this is a very different situation.
Dr. Hannah Wallace, lead research associate at the Kindrachuk Lab in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Manitoba, says Hantavirus is serious, but it is not spreading the same way COVID-19 did.
Dr. Wallace says public health officials are monitoring people who may have been exposed, but for the general public, there is no reason to panic.
