The Northern Health Region is marking Allied Health Professionals Week by recognizing the many workers who support patients beyond the first step of their health care journey.

 

Bruce Krentz with the Northern Health Region says allied health covers a wide range of roles, including social workers, dietitians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, respiratory therapists, speech-language pathologists and more.

 

He says one familiar local voice is also being recognized in a major way.

 

Krentz says Northern Health Region Mental Health Promotion Specialist Jennifer Whalen recently received a national honour.

 

 

Krentz says Whalen’s work has made a meaningful difference in the community, and the week is also a chance to thank all allied health professionals across the region.
