Premier Wab Kinew says Indigenous participation will be key as Manitoba continues work on the Churchill Plus project with the federal government.
Kinew met with TC Energy leadership and the company’s Indigenous Advisory Council to discuss major infrastructure development, including the proposed expansion tied to Churchill.
The province says Churchill Plus could include upgrades to the port and rail line, an energy corridor, year-round icebreaking support, and an all-weather road.
Kinew says the new Manitoba Crown-Indigenous Corporation is meant to make sure Indigenous nations are involved every step of the way, while also creating jobs and revenue-sharing opportunities for northern communities.
