Manitoba Urges Drivers to Share the Road

The Manitoba government is reminding drivers to slow down and share the road as Canada Road Safety Week begins.

The campaign runs from May 12th to 18th, with this year’s theme being Every Road. Every Day. Everyone.

Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor says spring means more traffic returning to streets and highways, and drivers need to stay alert around motorcycles, bicycles, emergency vehicles, tow truck operators, and roadside crews.

The province is also reminding drivers they must leave at least one metre of space when passing a bicycle or power-assisted bicycle.

From May 12th to 14th, Manitoba Motor Carrier Enforcement will also be inspecting commercial vehicles and drivers as part of a 72-hour safety initiative.
