Manitoba is looking at the Port of Churchill as a way to grow trade with India.
Premier Wab Kinew met today with India’s High Commissioner to Canada, Dinesh K. Patnaik, to discuss export opportunities between Manitoba and India.
The province says the talks focused on moving more goods through Churchill, including liquefied natural gas, agricultural products, critical minerals, and other Manitoba exports.
Kinew says the port could help Manitoba reach global markets faster, while creating new opportunities for workers and businesses.
The premier also pointed to global instability and pressure on trade routes as a reason to strengthen secure northern trade corridors.
