On May 9, 2026, at 12:35 am, Cross Lake RCMP received a report of a vehicle-pedestrian collision that occurred on Island Park Drive, near Beardy’s Point, in Pimicikamak Cree Nation.

Officers attended and located a 43-year-old male, from Pimicikamak Cree Nation, with life-threatening-injuries. Cross Lake EMS transported the victim to the nursing station where he was pronounced deceased.

In speaking with a number of witnesses from the scene, it was reported that a pickup truck had struck the victim earlier and failed to remain at the scene.

Cross Lake RCMP, with assistance of RCMP Traffic Services, continue to investigate.
