A crime prevention proposal is being brought forward in Thompson, with input from the RCMP and outside expertise.
It’s called CPTED — which stands for Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design.
The approach looks at how things like lighting, sightlines, landscaping, cameras, doors and windows can make public places and properties safer.
Mayor Colleen Smook explains what CPTED is and how the training could be used locally.
The proposal is expected to help guide how Thompson looks at public spaces, buildings and areas where residents have raised concerns.
