Manitoba Eyes Lowest Deficit Ratio in Canada

Manitoba is on track to have the lowest deficit-to-GDP ratio in the country, according to the province’s latest update on its financial outlook.

Finance Minister Adrien Sala says that projection reflects what he calls a disciplined approach to spending, with a focus on balancing the books while still investing in priorities like health care, affordability, and job creation.

The government says it has been working to stabilize finances through targeted investments and steady deficit reduction, even as economic uncertainty continues across Canada.

Officials also point to growing interest from investors, highlighting opportunities tied to the Port of Churchill and the province’s critical minerals sector as part of Manitoba’s long-term economic outlook.
