The City of Thompson says this spring’s snow and road conditions have created a much tougher season for public works crews than usual.

 

Mayor Colleen Smook says unlike last year, crews are still dealing with snow clearing well into late April while also trying to respond to potholes and standing water issues across the city.

 

 

Smook says crews continue prioritizing school routes, major roads and sidewalks before moving into neighbourhood problem areas.

 

She also acknowledged frustrations from residents dealing with potholes and flooding, especially in lower-lying areas and gravel roads.

 

The mayor adds warmer temperatures expected over the next several days should help thaw catch basins and improve drainage conditions around the city.
