The Manitoba Nurses Union and the Northern Regional Health Authority are continuing discussions after the Northern Health Region briefly declared an emergency over staffing shortages earlier this week.
The declaration, which was later rescinded by Manitoba Health, involved departments at Thompson General Hospital and St. Anthony’s General Hospital in The Pas.
In an update sent this morning, the Manitoba Nurses Union says its Director of Labour Relations is meeting with the NRHA to negotiate a memorandum of understanding aimed at helping the union and the region work together to support both patients and staff during ongoing staffing challenges.
