The City of Thompson Annual Water Report for 2025 now available

The City of Thompson Annual Water Report for 2025 was released yesterday.

The report shows that about 598 million imperial gallons of treated water was consumed last year, up by about 82 million imperial gallons from 2024.

Per capita consumption is about 544 litres per day, higher than the 2019 national average of 411 litres per resident per day.

Thompson’s water utility had no boil water advisories in 2025 and no drinking water safety orders or letters of direction were issued for the water system.

Public Works repaired 54 water main breaks in 2025 – up from 27 in 2024 – and 23 service breaks, down from 31 in 2024.

The City is upgrading the SCADA (computer) monitoring-reporting system at the Water Treatment Plant and working with the Manitoba Water Services Board to install a diesel-powered backup generator for the Water Treatment Plant.

The projected completion of this project is this year.

The full report is now available at the Public Works office and on the City’s website.
