The Northern Health Region is constantly recognizing days and months that promote awareness about a wide range of topics.
Yesterday on 102.9 CHTM, Bruce Krentz, Health Promotion Coordinator for the NHR, spoke about Suicide Prevention Day which was Tuesday, as well as another event coming up in September.
Krentz has more here.
“The month of September is full of awareness days and one I want to highlight is FASD Awareness Month.”
FASD stands for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and it is a lifelong disability that affects the brain and body of people who were exposed to alcohol in the womb.
Each person with FASD has both strengths and challenges and will need special supports to help them succeed with many different parts of their daily lives.
Next Friday, September 20th, there will be an FASD awareness walk at 1:30 from City Hall to 80 Nelson Road, which is the Jordan’s Principle office, where there will be a barbecue.
