2nd annual three day gathering for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Men and Boys starts today

Starting today, MKO’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Liaison Unit is hosting their second gathering for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Men and Boys.

This three-day gathering is for families impacted by the loss of a loved one so they can meet with others who understand what they are going through.

The MKO team is offering sharing circles and mental health supports for both groups and individuals attending, along with meals and accommodations.

The need for these supports is growing, but the gathering was capped at 60 people, to adequately provide services to attendees.

According to 2020 data from Statistics Canada,  Indigenous men were seven times more likely to be murdered than non-Indigenous counterparts and four times more likely to die by homicide than Indigenous women.
