National Fishing Week is not only a way to encourage people to try fishing, but to celebrate our country’s history with the pastime.
Jason Matity with Matity’s Get Fishing, says for over 20 years Canadians have been encouraged to share in that history.
He shares what National Fishing Week is about.
“Really the whole idea behind it is unplugging, getting off your devices, getting out, getting some fresh air and enjoying our great Canadian outdoors and doing a little fishing at the same time.”
He reminds anglers to abide by the local fishing guidelines and laws. He suggests going online to find that information for your region.
National Fishing Week runs through to this Sunday.
Listen for more with Matity this afternoon at 12:40 and 5:10 on Thompson Today.
