The Northern Health Region is creating a Wisdom Council with the help of their Indigenous Health Department.
Bruce Krentz, Health Promotion Coordinator, shares details here.
“We are actually putting a call out right now for traditional, Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and Indigenous clinicians and so they will sit as part of the council. What the council will do is they are going to play a pivotal role in integrating Indigenous knowledge and traditional health practises into our current health care frame work.”
Krentz said this will help the Northern Health Region address the unique needs of people in northern Manitoba.
The council will help provide better access to quality health care for indigenous people and look at systemic changes that will promote cultural safety in the Northern Health Region.
Go to the Northern Health Region website or facebook page for more details about the Wisdom Council and how to apply.
The deadline is June 5th.
