For 15 years, YWCA Thompson has organized the local Walk-a-Mile in Her Shoes event.
Globally, the event is in its 23rd year.
Nicole Apetagon, Women’s Programs Coordinator at the YWCA, explains the purpose of the event.
“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a fun way to spread awareness about the importance of men and boys showing their support for women and girls, it is also a fundraiser to raise funds for programming and services for women and girls in Thompson.”
This year’s Walk a mile in her Shoes takes place on June 15th. It starts at 11 am with a free barbecue open to the community in the YWCA parking lot at 39 Nickel Road.
The walk will follow at noon.
