At Monday night’s committee of the whole meeting, a report from the Thompson RCMP detachment was received.

It provided an update on crime statistics and new developments within the local detachment for February.

Last month, the detachment was short 8 constables and one staff sargeant, with two recruits expected over the next couple weeks.

The Crime Trend reporting showed that calls for thefts and break and enters each rose around 25 per cent.  Drug trafficking and possession rose 58 per cent.

However, mischief calls fell by almost 36 per cent, and sexual assaults fell by almost 58 per cent.
