National Indigenous Veterans Day event to take place this Wednesday

The Royal Canadian Legion will commemorate National Indigenous Veterans Day in a separate event this Wednesday.

It will take place at 4:30 at the Legion Hall, starting with a ceremony and will be followed by the unveiling of murals painted by local artist Jasyn Lucas.

Oswald Sawh (Saw) with the Royal Canadian Legion has more about the veterans being honoured.

“We have over seven hundred Indigenous vets that served from Manitoba. Of that, we have close to one hundred and twenty that came from various communities in the north such as Norway House, The Pas, Cross Lake, and Grand Rapids.”

All are invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony on Wednesday and are reminded to also observe and join the Remembrance Day services this Saturday.

Saturday’s ceremony begins at 10 am in the C.A. Nesbitt Arena at the TRCC.
