Rapid Housing Initiative investing $13.3 million to fund 78 new homes for Indigenous people across Manitoba

In Winnipeg on Monday, Ahmed Hussen Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion announced an investment of $13.3 million that will fund 78 new homes for Indigenous people across Manitoba.

 

The funds came through the Rapid Housing Initiative Project Stream.

 

The new homes are part of 5 separate projects across northern Manitoba.

 

They include15 homes for Lynn Lake, 2 homes for Nelson House, 50 new homes in Opaskwayak Cree Nation, 6 new homes in Oxford House, and 5 homes for Wasagamack.

 

The Rapid Housing Initiative provides capital contributions to quickly create new permanent affordable housing units that support people who are vulnerable and prioritized under the National Housing Strategy.
