The Manitoba North District RCMP has provided ten thousand dollars to University College of the North’s Ininiwi Kiskinwakewin (IK) Centre.
The funding was secured through the province’s Criminal Property Forfeiture Fund.
UCN says the money will be used for this year’s Traditional Convocation Pow-wow, as well as the cost of food, gifts, and honoraria for components such as Elder teachings and a drum group.
The institution’s cultural coordinator Karl Laubmann says UCN is grateful to receive the funding, as it will go a long way in providing ongoing support in promoting Indigenous cultural programming at the school.
