AMM outlines four key priorities communities across the province has during their pre-provincial election campaign

Thompson’s Mayor and Deputy Mayor were in Winnipeg last week as a part of the Association of Manitoba’s Municipalities pre-provincial election campaign launch.

AMM has identified four priorities for member municipalities including fair and predictable municipal funding, investments in infrasture and human resources, and public safety.

Colleen Smook and Kathy Valentino, who also serves as AMM’s vice-president, were at the event with Winnipeg Mayor Scott Gillingham, East St. Paul Mayor Carla Devlin, and AMM president Kam Blight.

Smook says municipalities need care closer to home, citing doctors, nurses, and paramedics as examples.

She adds local training opportunities would help get them to the communities that need them.

The provincial election is scheduled for October 3rd.
