The man who was injured in an officer-involved shooting in Shamattawa First Nation has died.
The man was shot by police July 2nd in an exchange of gunfire after officers responded to a report of a man walking around with a firearm and discharging it at a residence in the community.
He was receiving treatment at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg until his death.
The Independent Investigation Unit says as this matter now involves a fatality, a request for a civilian monitor has been made to the Manitoba Police Commission.
The IIU deployed a team of investigators to Shamattawa to look into the incident last week.
