The Independent Investigation Unit is looking into an incident that involved a Thompson RCMP officer.

 

On Oct. 25 at approximately 2:45 pm, an officer from the Thompson Detachment was on Princeton Drive to serve legal documents when they encountered a 30-year-old male who was armed with a knife.

 

The encounter resulted in the officer discharging their firearm.

 

The 30-year-old male was taken to hospital with a serious injury.

 

The IIU has been notified and are taking over the investigation.
