A man was rescued by a helicopter this weekend after he was injured on a snowmobile ride.
On Sunday night, Thompson RCMP got a report of an injured snowmobiler near Dafoe Lake, which is about a three hour snowmobile ride from Split Lake.
A 23-year-old man made the call after he returned to Split Lake to report that two men ages 60 and 66 had remained behind in a cabin near Dafoe Lake, as the 66-year-old was injured and couldn’t make the trip back.
Officers knew the injured man was not alone and that he was in a cabin with supplies, but had a helicopter flown to the location as the severity of the injuries were not known.
The injured man was airlifted to Thompson for medical attention, where he remains with non-life threatening injuries.
