YWCA Thompson commemorates International Women's Day with the She Inspires Me campaign

Thompsonites have a way to show appreciation to the women in their life thanks to the YWCA’s She Inspires Me campaign.

The campaign is way for the community to commemorate International Women’s Day, which is on Mar. 8.

Nina Cordell, the women’s programs coordinator with the YWCA Thompson, explains the She Inspires Me campaign will work by having residents sending their messages to the organizations, whicj will then be delivered on International Women's Day.

The YWCA Thompson has launched a new education bursary that would provide financial support to women and girls.

The bursary was formerly known as the Joan Johnston Award, which was specific to high school students enrolled in post-secondary education, but has now been revamped to the Footsteps Forward bursary to be inclusive of all women and girls.

There are now two bursaries that can be applied for: one for furthering education which will help with expenses for shorter-term training or programs that don’t require the applicant to be enrolled in a post-secondary institute.

The other is the post-secondary enrollment bursary, which can be for either full-or-part time students.

Catch Thompson Today at 12:40 and 5:10 this afternoon for more information.
