The Thompson RCMP, along with students from the schools in town, continued their annual initiative to encourage everyone to drive sober this holiday season.

Students from the School District of Mystery Lake and Ecole La Voie du Nord decorated approximately two thousand paper bags, with messages including “Happy Holidays”, “Don’t Drink and Drive”, and “Merry Christmas”.

In a statement, Constable Sandy Deibert says while this holiday season will look different than what we’re used to, residents are urged to make it a safe one by not drinking and driving and or being a distracted driver.

Deibert advices people to plan their trip and have a designated driver for those who intend on drinking alcohol, and goes on to say the best decisions are made sober.
