NFPA Winter Holiday safety Tips

With the holiday season among us, there is a greater risk of fire as holiday decorations can cause house fires.

That’s why the National Fire Protection Association would like to remind people to exercise caution to prevent the risk of starting a fire.

The association recommends that you choose holiday decorations that are flame resistant or flame retardant, replace strings of lights with worn out or broken cords, use clips instead of nails when hanging Christmas lights, and to keep decorations away from windows and doors.

They also remind people to keep lit candles away from decorations and other flammable materials and to blow out candles when you leave the room or go to bed.
