Education, poverty reduction, strengthening neighbourhoods, and support for the arts and environment.
The Thompson Community Foundation is committed to funding charitable organizations in the city to achieve these ends.
Created in1995 as an endowment fund to serve the community, the fund has grown so that today it sits at just under two-million dollars.
Thanks to that growth, the Foundation was able to fund 12 local groups to the tune of almost $138-thousand this year.
Those grant announcements were made Tuesday at the Foundation’s annual general meeting.
This year’s grant recipients are:
The City of Thompson
Thompson Zoological Society
Wapanohk Community School
Thompson Public Library
Skate Thompson
Thompson Minor Hockey Association
Boys and Girls Club of Thompson
Ma-Mow-We-Tak Friendship Centre Inc.
Thompson General Hospital Auxiliary
Lions Manor 55 Men are Part of the Solution (MAPS) Inc.
