It’s difficult, if not impossible, for Canadians to find decent affordable housing and the Nor-Man region is no exception.
That’s according to our Member of Parliament, Niki Ashton, who says that the number of houses in poor condition is growing, as is the wait list for affordable housing.
The federal NDP has released the first part of their plan to build 500,000 affordable housing units over the next decade, which Ashton says is a better use of taxpayer money than corporate tax giveaways and pipelines.
She says that the plan starts with addressing the housing crisis in Indigenous communities, and also includes doubling the home buyers’ tax credit.
She adds that everyone in Canada should have a safe and affordable place to call home.
