MP of the Churchill-Keewatinook Aski region Niki Ashton has a very simple message for the region after a tough summer.

Ashton said the region needs to fight for their jobs, since the provincial and federal governments have been unresponsive to the closures.

The northern region has been hit hard after Omnitrax decided to shut down in Churchill and Tolko announced they would be leaving the region in December.

She says the solution is obvious and that the Canadian government should look at buying and then selling Omnitrax to a First Nations group. She also demanded the governments do their best to save the mill in The Pas.
