The province’s first community safety officers have begun their training this week.

Being piloted here in Thompson, the 8 new officers are currently completing a 3 week training program at UCN. They are expected to complete training and start patrolling the streets by June 15.

The 8 CSO’s will be replacing the City’s 4 by-law officers, and will work with local RCMP to address crime prevention, youth services, and public safety.
