Manitoba announces $10 mil. to support remote learning

Education Minister Kelvin Goertzen has announced the Manitoba Government is establishing a new resource centre to support remote learning across the province.

Goertzen explains the province in coordination with their partners will be hiring 100 teachers and 20 EAs in the development of a remote learning unit.

He says this support will help teachers who are delivering education remotely, it’ll be a team that will assist and benefit those who are home schooling and those who are providing home education.

Goertzen also announced there will be three additional non-instructional days added to this year’s school calendar so schools can focus on collaborative planning as they shift and adapt to remote learning.

Two of these days will be scheduled before Christmas and one in the second semester.

Divisions will incorporate these days into their calendars where they best fit.
