Hailing from the Nation's Capital, Stuart Walter works in the 102.9 CHTM news room covering all things news and sports in and around Thompson. If he's not in the office, he can often be found at the Thompson Regional Community Centre volunteering in various roles for the Midget "AAA" Norman Northstars.
Walter studied Radio Broadcasting at Algonquin College in Ottawa, graduating in 2015. While in school, he served as the executive producer of hockey at Algonquin's radio station (CKDJ 107.9). He was also part of the team that provided complete coverage (game commentary, analysis) of the Nepean Junior "A" Raiders hockey team. During his final semester at Algonquin College, Walter spent four months as an intern at Rogers Sportsnet 590 The Fan in Toronto. While there, he worked on shows such as "The Jeff Blair Show" and "Tim and Sid".
After graduation, Walter worked as the play by play announcer for the Kemptville 73's Junior "A" hockey club. He also spent time working for the Ottawa Senators at the Canadian Tire Centre, as well as volunteering as a commentator for the Ottawa Junior "A" Senators hockey club. Walter spent a brief period in Yellowknife, NWT as a newscaster in 2016. Alongside his wife, Rebecca, he moved to Thompson in January of 2017 to work for CHTM.
Outside of work, Walter can often be found watching hockey or any other sport that happens to be on at the time. He also enjoys shows like "The Grand Tour", "Shark Tank" and "Dragon's Den". Walter is an avid collector of sports apparel, mainly hats and jerseys.
