Workforce reduction at Keeyask to move forward as Manitoba Hydro announces four additional positive cases of COVID-19

Manitoba Hydro updated its COVID-19 case numbers, and as of Thursday, a total of 24 workers have tested positive for COVID-19.

Another eight workers are awaiting secondary test results from Cadham Provincial Lab, and there are 45 workers isolating in special dorms at the site.

Hydro president and CEO Jay Grewal says the company is moving forward with its temporary workplace reduction in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus while still continuing work by following the guidelines put in place.

Grewal adds that Hydro had already implemented the requirements of a code critical/red before it was officially announced by the province last week.

She goes on to say that of the more than 760 workers at Keeyask, approximately 550 will continue critical work at the camp.
