Manitoba's Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin announced the first death from COVID-19 in the Northern Health Region this afternoon.
The patient was a female in her 40s in the Island Lake District.
Four other deaths were announced today, most linked to outbreaks in personal care homes and hospitals in the Winnipeg health region.
Roussin says 242 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified as of this morning, which includes 23 new cases in the NRHA.
There are currently 223 active cases in the Northern Health Region, 19 of which are in the Thompson/Mystery Lake District.
