MSBA Award Nomination Deadline Set For Wednesday

Wednesday is the deadline for Manitoba School Boards Association Student Citizenship Award nominations.

Heather Demetrioff, the MSBA’s director of education and communication services, tells Arctic Radio News that nominations are made by schools through the school board, and that they are open to all public school students Kindergarten to grade twelve.

She explains the awards are not based on academic performance necessarily, but that it’s based on their service within the school and the community.

She says this year they are increasing the monetary value of the awards from $500 to $1,000. This is the first time the cash award has gone up since the awards began.

Demetrioff adds that an award is given to one student in each of the Association’s six geographic areas, as well as one provincial award for a student group.
