Flashing Street Lights A Result Of Cold Temperatures, Merger Of New Bulbs With Old Standards

It turns out that some street lights don’t like the cold weather any more than you do.

There are some street lights that have started flashing over the past few weeks, and Manitoba Hydro says it’s because of the weather.

A spokesperson for the Crown Corporation spoke to Arctic Radio News and said that when a light seems to be acting as a strobe light, it’s because of a bad connection.

He said that the flashing light indicates a bad connection, and that the issue is the result of having LED lights in old light standards that were not made for the new bulbs.

If you notice a light flashing, you’re asked to report it to Manitoba Hydro by clicking here.
