Operation Red Nose Raises $6,155, Down From 2017 Total

The numbers are in for Operation Red Nose 2018.

Local committee member Josh Cain spoke to Arctic Radio News earlier today, and said that across the province, $92,210 was raised by 2,619 volunteers who gave 4,293 rides over the holiday season.

Locally, 146 volunteers provided 339 rides and collected $6,155. All of those numbers are down from last year, when 200 volunteers provided 380 rides and collected $9,364.50.

Despite the numbers in all three categories coming down, Cain said that the numbers “aren’t bad considering what the city has gone through”.

He added that there will likely be more than $6,155 donated to local youth-based organizations, as all money saved from the operating budget will be added to that total.

Josh Cain will be the guest for “Thompson Today” tomorrow afternoon at 12:40pm and 5:10pm to further discuss the 2018 season for ORN Thompson.
