Smook: Zero Tolerance Policy For Dogs On The Loose

Be prepared to pay a steep fine if your dog is caught running loose.

Mayor Colleen Smook spoke to Arctic Radio News, and said that the City has now developed a zero tolerance policy for when dogs are on the loose or left out in the cold.

According to the City of Thompson’s fee and fine schedule for 2019, the first time your pet is caught running at large will cost you $212, while the second and third offences will cost $424 and $636 respectively.

Mayor Smook added that the best thing to do is to keep your dogs on a leash while outside.

The full fee and fine schedule for 2019 can be found here.
