The Thompson Local News

Niki Ashton says that she is in support of the City of Thompson when it comes to the Mining Community Reserve Fund.

Our Member of Parliament was the guest at a recent Chamber of Commerce meeting, where she addressed the issue.

She said that she stands in support of Mayor Fenske and City Council, and that she expects both the Pallister and Trudeau governments to be at the table looking for solutions.

Ashton said that it is very frustrating to see leaders that are unwilling to work with Thompson.

She added that even though it was the federal government that approved the sale of Inco to Vale, Ottawa hasn’t been active in trying to find solutions.
