The Thompson Recreational Community Centre will be renamed to recognize an original contributor of the recreational centre.
The TRCC will be renamed the Vale Regional Community Centre in 2017. The announcement was made before the Norman Northstars game on Saturday night.
Vale initially made a $3 million contribution in 2006 when plans were made for the facility. The project was completed in 2012.
Deputy Mayor Kathy Valentino said that the city was extremely proud to recognize the role that Vale played in the development of the facility.
Along with the name change, new signage is expected as well. Vale and the City of Thompson will meet to discuss the physical changeover in the coming months.
