At the Thompson Community Fund Gala, resident Nick Di Virgillio was awarded the Order of Thompson.

The Order of Thompson goes to an individual who has helped build Thompson through philanthropy, business, recreation, volunteering, community spirit, and ambassadorship.

Nick helped with various organizations, helped install the John F. Thompson clock outside of City Hall, and is on many boards to help grow the city. Nick was awarded the 2006 volunteer of the year, and has been known to volunteer for anything in the city and never say no when asked for help.

The Order was initiated in 2010 with Volker Beckmann receiving the inaugural award.  He was followed by Gail and Arnold Morberg, Red Sangster, Adrian DeGroot, Ted Smook and John Donovan.
