Red Cross Helps York Factory

The Red Cross had to respond to a crisis out at York Factory which is about 175 km north of Thompson after the winter storms that took place last week.

On Thursday, approximately 60 individuals, including elders and those with serious health issues, as well as some of their family members, were evacuated from the community to Thompson. They were returned back to the community on Saturday.

The Red Cross helped the move after being called in. During the storm, York Factory was the only community affected says Jason Small from Red Cross.

The outage also impacted the water treatment facility in the community. The Red Cross flew in more than 7,700 litres of bottled water to the community to help.
