Mayor Dennis Fenske has proclaimed October as Disability Employment Awareness Month for the City of Thompson.

The mayor made the announcement last week and says that the month is to help spread awareness to business and employers that disabled individuals may have other strengths to help companies in other aspects.

"The encouragement is to become aware of what the abilities are and not to focus on the disabilities," says Fenske.

The mayor also declared October as Senior's and Elders Month last week. This will be the second cause that will be supported by the city.
