Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation and the city of Thompson announced that there will be a celebration for the establishment of the new urban reserve in Thompson.
After fifteen years, the conversion was completed earlier this summer when the Minister of Indigenous Affairs and Northern Development set aside Mystery Lake lands as an urban reserve in the city.
The celebration will take place on September 28th which will make an opportunity to acknowledge the historic milestone for the Nation and the City.
NCN is based in Nelson House and has a population of 4,800 which mostly reside in Nelson House and Thompson.
