FASD Day

Every September 9th is FASD Day, and the Alliance in Thompson will be setting up information tents on tables in restaurants around town.

The tents will be there for just the day or for the whole month, depending on the business. It will set out to help spread information and awareness about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

In many cases FASD is caused before the mother even knows she's pregnant, says co-chair of FASD alliance Shelly Anderson.

Information tents help spread awareness to a disorder that is avoidable.

FASD can cause physical or developmental disabilities and every child has a different disability from the disorder. Up to 30% of women drink alcohol when pregnant.
