5 NDP MP’s want the conservatives to add more communities to the Nutrition North program.

They say 46 communities, 5 of which are from Northern Manitoba, are lacking affordable food. 

Churchill MP Niki Ashton has more: "Basically our main ask was an immediate induction of these communities into Nutrition North so that people in these communities like Tadoule, like Brochet, like York Landing can actually have better access to healthier food".

In one of the 46 communities, a 10kg bag of flour costs $38.

The NDP estimates extending the subsidy could cost taxpayers about $7.5 million a year.
