After 3 years of discussions with the province, City council has decided to pay their income assistance contribution.

Mayor Dennis Fenske tells us more: "Through lots of discussions with the province, we finally got an explanation as to what the current costs are, what the trends are and that. We’re not satisfied with the fact that we continue to pay $160,000 but that’s the legislation so we will pay our bills".

Fenske says council has had money set aside, waiting for discussions with the province to be concluded.
